the other side of the mountain

last night, i had a dream that there was a hole in my ear. through the hole, you couldn't see into my head, but through to the other side of me. the hole was growing, and prognosis wasn't good. soon, it was going to eat me up!

i woke up with a start at 6 am, went to yoga at 6:30, and there, i got some advice that has really shifted my outlook a bit. my teacher said - it's as if we're on a river, heading downstream, yet paddling our hardest. we are constantly fighting against the truth of reality, to get somewhere we are already headed. i've thought about this all day long.

to be honest, today was the first day that i have taken off from work for the entire week of my spring break. i've even been working each night. fighting these physical feelings of stress in my body with yoga, and deep breaths.

but thoughts of the conference, my screwy love life, colder weather, and an empty house, have nearly left me beat.

in relation to the dream...i'm not quite sure what to make of it. i think the feeling that i am not in control of my work, of my life, is like a hole in me. one that can expand, and take me away, if i don't stop paddling for a minute, lay back, and glide down the river in peace.

here are some pics from my new secret hiding place. my camera ran out of batteries right at the end, when i found what i think will be a room of my own for the rest of the semester...
