hey all,
today at 7:30 am, my students from this summer presented their work to the WCCTAC board (west contra costa transportation advisory council), a group of elected officials and transportation experts. over the last two days, weeks really, i've been doing everything i could to get the kids ready and physically in that room! they did SUCH an amazing job with their presentation, and everyone was really impressed.
this morning, i woke up at 5:15 am to pick the kids up from their houses to go for breakfast before the presentation. driving down the richmond parkway with the moon out, listening to bob marley, i had this feeling like a revolution was occurring today. one small step...each time i bring people to represent themselves and their views publicly i have this feeling, and it feels good.
off to take a nap to start the day again fresh in a few...still training for this half marathon...gotta get my rest!
here's a pic of the kids in nations early am, and then with the mayor of richmond post-presentation. represent!
much love,
alis
