tinariwen

hello there

it's been a wild n crazy week. with two presentations and paper due, the fun and games were over. long nites in the lab, absentee class partners, and me sleeping very little.

fun things surrounded this week. on sunday, i went to see vieux farka toure and tinariwen in concert for sf jazz. it was impossible to sit down, the music was beautiful and electric. my friend was the drummer for vieux, and we got to stay afterwards and meet the musicians which was fantastic, although they only spoke french...

tonight, i took some students to a movie called 'grind & glory' part of the silence the violence campaign put forth by the ella baker center in oakland. beforehand, we went to uc berkeley for a dinner with all of the teachers from the school district they are in...they presented their summer project...it was fabulous.

but i am beat. and pensive...

so i'm drinking some makers mark and heading to bed on the double.
