por la carretera

holas holas,

i am writing you de nueva york, with a brief diary of where i'm at, and where i'm goin.

last nite i went to the most amazing manu chao concert in prospect park. we were dancing up a storm - literally - for hours to the funky, latin, reggae-infused, international beats de manu. i felt like he brought the world with him to brooklyn last nite, and we were feeling it. throughout the concert, lightening was flashing in the sky. just at the end, the rains came down upon us, like a chance to start fresh from that moment.

being in new york so far has been hot as heck, but relaxing. i've been jogging in central park, and i'm just about to go swimming at my local pool. it's like a puzzle fitting time to see everyone, but that's okay too.

each time i come home, i am happier and happier that i live out in california. i feel lucky that nyc is my original hometown, because i get to come home to the best of it. but it's really just not my bag anymore. the superficial demeanors of folks, the worry, the stress...not for me. i think everyone should just moved to cali. people don't realize how nice it is to be in the sweet weather, with nature so close by. i wonder if they would rather live a hectic life, or if this style of living is just a habit that's hard to break.

the one drawback about not living here, is that i miss my friends when i'm gone. it feels like being home for such short trips isn't enough to truly catch up and be close. i guess they'll just have to come out to cali to visit me...hint hint.

til the next, be happy, and try leaving the worry that holds you down. just feel the rains and be free.

much love,
alis
